DCLM Daily Manna January 16, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi – Obedience Is Key

Topic: Obedience Is Key [Monday January 16, 2017]

Text: Mark 11:1-11

Key Verse: "And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him" (Mark 11:4).

The London slave trade abolition act of 25th March, 1807, was spearheaded by William Wilberforce; after which the British Royal Navy, established in 1808, began to patrol the West African coasts, intercepting slaves from the slave masters’ ships, setting the slaves free and resettling them in either Liberia or Sierra Leone.

The freed slaves were later educated, trained with some of them recruited to join the British naval squadron in the fight against the slave trade. In today’s text, Jesus Christ was near Jerusalem unto Bethphage and Bethany at the mount of Olives. He sent forth two of His disciples to go and set loose an unridden colt, upon which He would ride into Jerusalem. He instructed them that if anyone challenged them as to why they were untying the colt, they were to tell the person that the Lord wanted to make use of it. The two disciples were obedient to the Lord’s command and they brought the colt upon which the Lord had His triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Just as the two disciples obeyed the Lord without procrastination, believers of this end-time Church need to arise promptly to obey the great commission of our Lord, to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, making disciples of them.

The disciples made out of the converts must be trained, matured and enlisted in Christ’s end-time army to glorify the name of the Lord. Like freed slaves of old, Christ has set the believer free so that he can be used for His glory. We have been saved to serve. Therefore, how wonderful will it be, if all Christians will arise and obey the great commission like the two disciples in the text of today! There are still many colts that are tied and that need to be loosed and set free for God’s use.

Thought for the day: Obedience begets temporal and eternal rewards.
